Oak Alley is a famous plantation of about 1200 acres, about an hour west of New Orleans. It's had many owners over the years, and is now owned by the Oak Alley Foundation. One interesting note: from 1905 to 1917 it was abandoned and decayed while bats and cows inhabited every room of the house. It's amazing that it's still standing today.
